I wasn’t sure what to expect after yesterdays ride… I thought my legs would be sore, as well as my knees and my wrists. They where last night! Lucky for me, I was able to jump on the bike and head into work at a reasonable speed.
I have an issue with the Muvi now as the helmet connector is broke, so the camera won’t stay on. Is a real shame after three incidents this morning, one life threatening, 1 just a driver being an asshole and one left hook.
The first incident happened where that lad was killed on his motorbike. I think the registration plate was T898 TGV but am unsure. Basically there was a car in front of him in a right hand filter lane, and they where waiting to turn right. The guy behind ignored the person in front and undercut them and shot through the junction.
I realised at the last second and applied my brakes… Despite my brakes being new and very grippy – I still ended up right in front of the van as he applied his brakes. He just stared at me and drove around me. What a fucking cunt. What a fucking moronic cunt. And the funny thing about it was, the road he travelled down – he had to sit at a red light there.
I decided after that to take the long cut to get me off the main road (the long cut that Gary introduced me to).
Kirkmanshulme Lane saw me sat in the middle of an ASL at red lights when some douchebag stopped a mere 2in from my back wheel rolling over half the ASL. I looked round and he had a child in the back seat – which is lucky for him. I just got my camera out and took a photo of the car.
The final stretch saw a group of young people in a car not knowing where they where going – a taxi parked in the cycle lane and me going round the taxi just as the “young uns” decided to turn left into me without indicating. Boom.
The passenger wound his window down and the driver shouted apologies. Checked if I was ok. He thought I’d hit his car… I hadn’t. I’d luckily seen what was happening and stopped and punched his back door hard.
Phew. What a morning. Now I need to locate a new helmet strap for my camera.
Evening Commute:
Total Time: 50m 38s
Total Distance: 10.00 miles
Max Speed: 23.9mph
Avg Speed: 11.8mph
Max H/Rate: 183bpm
Avg H/Rate: 148bpm
Cadence: 82bpm
I have to be quick at updating as my wife needs the computer.
I’m uploading a “special” video for you all to see, whereby a car jumps a red light as I am turning right – and the gentleman in the car calls me a “fucking cunt” through the window as I slow down so I don’t hit the side of his car.
Obviously it is I in the wrong as I “don’t pay road tax”, “wear lycra”, “ride on pavements” and”jump red lights” and I do apologise and take your wonderful constructive comments on board.
Video will have to be posted on tomorrows post as Louise needs to carry on working, and I want to watch Paul Merton.
Its funny – I was talking to a neighbour today and discussing the roads… Its amazing how many car drivers bully cyclists, but when you ask them out of the vehicle they ain’t interested in taking it further.
The quicker all the tosspots crash their cars and lose a leg the better.
Bit harsh? Yes – but I am sick of being bullied whilst out on my bike. The ride round Cheshire yesterday was good – patient drivers and cars giving plenty of space – the only issues I had was one with a taxi driver on the way out and one with a chap on the way back on Palatine Road who “applied” his brakes quickly to make me ride into the back of him.
Of course, I didn’t ride into the back of him, and he seemed a little worried 2 miles down the road when I was still only 200ft away from him
They obviously think that you can’t see them in their mirrors (you know – the ones they are supposed to be looking in).

What, no pain, no aching legs? Thats no fair!
I really ache from my ride yesterday. This mornings commute, for me, was at a very slow pace.

Just noticed on your stats, your maximum heart rate was 1. Must have been a hell of a good beat!

Consider it changed.
I can’t be arsed changing the screens on the Garmin so have to peep through the history – I forgot this morning.
The Garmin also claimed that my maximum speed was 40.8mph – I can imagine how fast 40mph is on a bike and I certainly didn’t have the energy for that this morning!

You see, it’s precisely that attitude which makes cyclists so disliked.

LOL. Sorry – how about this:
Muvi = camera
TGV = the end of the numberplate that you read previous
ASL = Advanced Stop Line
Garmin = GPS system.
Or, I could be a cunt and say this:
Muvi = fuck knows
TGV = Tosser Giving V’s
ASL = Arsehole (just for you) Sucking Lemons
Garmin = Cheap bog roll rip off.

You see, it’s precisely that attitude which makes cyclists so beloved by all. ;o)
