Today was an “interesting” commute. I first had an oldish twat and his missus driving up my ass, and I mean up my ass. Probably squinting to see the backpack. This was at 30mph too, which was scary, as had I slowed down, they would have rode right into the back of me.

I managed to put a bit of distance between us going down the hill (hence max speed) but within 10 seconds, they shot past me at about 40mph – but they did give me enough room.

I still gave them the bird as they went past.

Coming up the hill I approached a cyclist who I am familiar with (he’s always jumping red lights in front of me) and a new cyclist who was taking his time up the hill. I pulled into the traffic and went round the outside as the light jumper jumped up on the pavement.

At the next set of lights… Jump… I caught up… Jump… I caught up… Jump…

In the bus lane approaching the cycle bridge I had a chap driving up my ass. He pulled out into the lane he should have been, giving me plenty of room, then, looking in all his mirrors, pulled back in when it was safe… Nice of him and he deserved to have a smug “wow, that was the safety manouvre I’ve ever performed” until I pointed at the Bus / Cycle Lane only sign ;)

A chap then walked out into the road without looking and sauntered across right into my path.

I then had the pleasure on Plymouth Grove of having to stop because a guy pulled out into the cycle lane and I couldn’t pull out into the road due to traffic. He later claimed as he drove past me smiling that “he hadn’t pulled into the cycle lane”.

Please lets hope that I got footage.

Right at the next junction another car did the same, and someone was waiting to turn into this road as someone was about to left hook me. Fortunately, the chap behind who was turning left realised the situation and slowed down allowing me to pull out safely and past the numpty in the cycle lane.

On the same road I then had a company van actually drive down the cycle lane for absolutely no reason what so ever! Typical. And then the van behind thought it would be funny to get close to me. He sort of pulled away when, as he looked in his mirror – I showed him my camera.

Then, as I was travelling down Oxford Road, a cyclist in front swerved out into my path as I was overtaking, so I had to pull really wide… He was riding no handed and blowing into his hands to keep them warm.

Then, as I pulled up at the lights in the ASL, a mountain biker pulled up to the left of me… Not really any room to do that, and he should have stayed behind. Whilst waiting at the lights 4 cyclists jumped the red… Then, as our lights turned green, this mountain biker set off, leaving me commenting as I blazed past that “he should have stayed behind in position rather than pull up at the side”.

At the next set of lights he had learned his lesson, just as two cyclists went through a red.

I then watched in amazement as a pedestrian walked out blindly into the road from behind a delivery truck and then squeeze up past the cars to end up back on the pavement because the cars had started moving… Plenty of room for her to walk round the delivery truck AND there are 2 (yes 2) crossings within 100ft of each other where she was!

Still onĀ  Cross Street I was sat at the lights in traffic as a HGV was turning left – we all know the stories about HGVs, when a cyclist went down on the right – track stood in the middle of the junction and went through on red, just as a woman, who wasn’t very confident, went down the side of the HGV and saw what the guy did and went through the red too.

All with a police van in front – but of course, they weren’t paying any attention whatsover.

Unfortunately – it looks like things are back to normal :(

Liverpool are on so gonna be quick.

I shouted at a driving instructor today and he looked shocked. Why did I shout at him – because he was sat in a car with a learner driver who had completely cut off a cycle lane with three cyclists coming behind. This was at a junction with 7ft gap to the right of the car.

Not the drivers fault – the instructors.

I wasn’t nasty too, so don’t fret.

Ta-ra.
